Theme Thursday- Facial Parts

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event hosted by Reading Between the Pages that will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:
  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
This week’s theme is

FACIAL PARTS (Eyes, Ears, Nose, Lips etc)

My snippet this week comes from The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock. I apologize in advance, my snippet is not very pleasant.

The Devil All the Time

"Unable to offer anything but a little mercy, Willard shot the Marine behind the ear, and they took him down and covered him with rocks at the foot of the cross."

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to checking out everyone's posts today.

Ugh - you're right - not pleasant, but it still fits the theme perfectly! What's the book like though?

Thanks for stopping by my blog today :)

I'm only about 60 pages in and so far, it's quite dark and violent and yet so far it's oddly compelling.

Surprisingly, yes, if you read the rest of the book you'll see that shooting him was actually doing the Marine a favor. Let's just say he wasn't in the best shape in the first place.

Great choice - good to have a variety and mine was a bit gruesome too.
Happy reading!

I'll agree, not exactly pleasant, but it did fit the theme. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
