In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weeklyBOOKPARTYis an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!
This week's question is:
“What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?“
There are a few things. First and most important, I need to care. I need to care about the characters and what is going to happen to them. I need to be invested in their story enough to want to continue. Second, there needs to be some anticipation. A hint of something big to come. It doesn't matter how much I connect to a character, if all they are going to do is sit on the couch or go to work and school day in and day out, well, that's lame. I could just take a look at my own life. There needs to be SOMETHING going on or at least the promise of something.
