Friday Blog Hop

It's Friday again which means it's blog hopping time yet again. They've introduced a twist to the hop recently where you have to answer the question of the week in your post.

This week's question is

Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

This is a tough one for me as I don't think I really have a favorite author. I have several favorite books but I'm not much of a playing favorites type of person. I couldn't name a favorite movie or band either. If pressed to pick one I'd go with J.K Rowling. I love the world she created and the characters in it. I also really love Charlaine Harris. I've only read the Southern Vampire books (the ones True Blood is based on for those of you who didn't know) but it's another world that I just love to escape to. I'll also take a second to give a big shout out to Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume and Roald Dahl for igniting my love of reading at a young age. So those will always be near and dear to my heart. Particularly Matilda which taught me that it was perfectly OK to be smart and different and that reading is cool.

Now head over to Crazy-For-Books and sign up for the hop or just browse the list for some great blogs to check out.

Hi! Found you through the Hop! One of the first books I reviewed when I started my blog was 1001 Books you Must Read Before You Die. I had every intention of reading through the list but lost all motivation! Will be interesting to watch your progress...you might even encourage me to start again! Happy to do a mini read-along one month with you :-)

Hopping by,

I am also so thankful for Judy Blume and Beverley Cleary, they also ignited my love for reading at an early age. I can remember the enthusiasm I had for getting another book by them every time one of my favourite authors comes out with a new book now.

It's so great to think back to what I read as a kid. I loved (and still do) Beverly Cleary and Judy Bloom! Though my favorite was always R.L. Stine. Good picks.

Happy Hop Day!

Hi, I'm stopping by via the book blog. I like your blog, and have become a new follower. I plan on reading a lot more classics this year, so I hope your blog will give me an idea on which ones I'll enjoy.

Thanks everyone for stopping by, I hope to return the visit sometime today.

Rebecca-If you haven't read the Harry Potter series I highly suggest it. I know it's geared more towards children but it's still a fantastic read for adults.

Roald Dahl was my favorite author as a kid, once I got over how creepy I thought the Willy Wonka and the Charlie Factory movie was. You should check out some of his collections of short stories, such as The Umbrella Man and Other Stories. It's Dahl's wit and style but for adults.

I loved Beverly Cleary more for her YA than her children's books. And I agree that J.K. Rowling has created a great world with the Harry Potter series. Happy reading this weekend!

I was a fan of both Roald Dahl and Judy Blume when I was younger and no doubt I'd still enjoy reading their books today.

Have you ever tried The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher? I highly recommend his books.

Take care :)

Judy Blume will always hold a special place in my heart too. Tells of the First Grade Nothing was the first book I read and I haven't stopped reading since. I still have that copy of the book and it very tattered and extremely loved.

Hi Rachel, thank you so much for visiting! I love that you mentioned some of the childhood authors. I still remember the first time I read Starring Sally J Freedman As Herself by Judy Blume.

I recently read The Reader myself. I agree that it was completely romantic and engrossing, I expected to be disturbed by the age difference between Michael and Hanna but instead I was devastated by their story.
